Looked for a running Santa. Settled on this. |
I'm starting to look ahead to 2011 runs, I'll post a list later on. There won't be much flexibility for 5Ks and such leading up to May because my long runs will always be Saturday.
Still, I'm very tempted to do the First on the First on Jan. 1. It just looks like a lot of fun. Plus I know there will be pacers, it would be cool to see how I do following the 8-minute pacer, I'd love to get my 5K time under 26, which means I need to go at an 8:22 pace.
I should know better. I've had a lot of random aches and pains this week, I know they're just caused because I'm back to it after two weeks off, but it's a reminder to take it slow nonetheless.
Plus I need to cover 7 miles that day. So, I'd need to run 4 before the 5K even starts. No, I'll just stick with my plan.
Training this week... been following my plan. It's been good.
One week (almost) down. 19 to go.
Monday I did a 3-mile tempo on the treadmill, Tuesday I did a 3 mile run with Tim at Star Power Running here in town. Today I did hill repeats. Sticking with my plan to cross train once a week I'm going to take a spinning class and put in some time on the elliptical.
That class that starts in 6 1/2 hours, that is. It's past my bedtime. Somehow I need to squeeze in 6 this weekend, either I'll sneak out Christmas day or go early Sunday before the drive back.
Next week should be easy enough to remember -- three 3 mile runs! One regular, one hills, one tempo -- got it!
I'm loving the Mizuno Precisions. It's been an interesting transition, I'm definitely striking with my toe more. That should be better for my legs once I do get used to it.
I need to make a bunch of changes to the blog once I get my lazy butt in gear. It's killing me that some of the top posts have no image attached so I'll go back and fix that. I need to update the race page and some of the links. I've found a bunch of fellow runners I want to link to, and also my RSS feed is backed up with posts I need to read. I should have some time this weekend.
If you're still reading this at this point, wow. It's a pointless post, mostly just to kill time while I ice my shin. Starting to melt, a sign that it's time for bed, I probably won't even bother to add links and tag. Heading to Lakewood tomorrow and staying through the weekend.
My whole body is thanking me right now because I made it to yoga tonight. I'm getting better, when it comes to the balance stuff I'm now coming just short of toppling over and falling flat on my face. The instructor was playing some fantastic classical guitar music which made it 12 times easier to relax. I wish they had a class right after Saturday long runs. I'll look for a video instead.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
7 mile day: 2 warmup, 5K race, 2 cooldown
ReplyDeleteNot that I'm encouraging if you're hurting. But since you need to do a warmup and cooldown anyway, *especially* in the colder weather...just sayin'. :)
Thanks Becki. I usually warm up for a mile, then just walk to cooldown. I think I'll take it easy and just stick with the LSD run!
